Manu Atelier: A Collection That Celebrates Female Strength And Individuality

For the first time, Manu Atelier has designed their clothing, entirely handmade and only available for this campaign. A repurposed wardrobe made of delicate hand-braided crochet and leather offcuts.

Since making the crochet garments, the company have teamed up with sustainable designer Lou de Betoly, known for her bold, surreal recycled fashion items.

With a fresh take on minimalism, clean cuts, earthy colours, the launch of an eco-friendly crochet raffia fabric and the brand's first non-leather boots, this season injects a sense of newness that is daring and striking whilst showcasing the brand's take on sustainability.

The AW21 campaign embodies empowerment and the embrace of female individuality through body movement and vibrant expression of raw feelings. The inspiration began with German feminist photographer Marianne Wex and her photographic project "Let's Take Back Our Room." As a mirror of people's feelings, body language allows for the communication of one's true self that carries a strong unfiltered non-verbal language.

The campaign's dynamic postures can interpret as defiance of society's assumptions about women's expected behaviours. Women should be able to sit, walk, speak, dress, and behave as they wish, with no restrictions needed.

The AW21 initiative is a forum for celebrating female strength and individuality. It highlights what matters, particularly in light of recent difficulties, a time to reflect on what we are doing and have more awareness to embrace female empowerment.

It is an opportunity to rethink, re-use, and reclaim components with a new purpose, an opportunity for the re-birth of ourselves and a time to refocus.

"The RE-FORM and RE-VOLT – of the female body language" - The embrace of its strong energy and attitude not as a result but as a rebellion of the patriarchal structure.
