The Portuguese-born songstress combines her Mediterranean roots with the hustle and bustle of London city life in this warm and vibrant new track. Having recently collaborated with Carlos do Complexo’s on his latest track ‘MiSTAKES’, Lexie Palms also featured on Ellesse's #MyStyleMySound sessions at Metropolis Studios, marking the start of a creatively successful year for herself.
Currently residing in London, Lexie Palms is a jack of all trades whilst being a singer, songwriter and producer. As her main goal through her music is to create soulfully emotive tracks that are bursting with her spirits, she also likes to combine the warming vibes of Portugal within her music. Whilst her artist names derives from her place of birth, Leça da Palmeira, the singer wants to ensure you she has strong ties with her homeland. As well as spending years performing in and around her hometown, Lexie Palms is here to let you know that 2020 is her year. She has also announced that 'Can It Be Me' is the single that will be leading up to her debut EP Midstream.
When asked about the track, Lexie has shared with us:
“Can It Be Me' was the first track I made after taking a one-year break in songwriting and producing.
That was straight after I graduated from university and the stress of constantly trying to figure out what would come next in my career got the best of me. 'Can It Be Me’ marked a shift in that mindset and unlocked a feeling of hope and desire to go further with my music. It’s about realising that when you’re hungry for more and really do it just for pure enjoyment and happiness, that’s when you start moving forward.”
“At the same time, ‘Can It Be Me’ connects my love and longing for the ocean with my home Leça da Palmeira and Porto, which remain very present in my music. And now I know what the water brought. The river flows and it doesn’t stop. And so, it brings out the best in me. Can it be me?”.
This track makes me feel at home…”
