Maverick Sabre Returns With New Single '8 Stages'

Some people believe that there are eight stages in a person’s personality development, which cab be argued that one of the most celebrated contemporary Irish voices, Maverick Sabre is wrestling with on his return with his first single of 2026, ‘8 Stages’

Track, released via FAMM, is co-produced by himself and Ben McKone. It seems he is looking back on his life so far, whilst meditating on the future.

‘8 stages’ is a confessional offering of regret and loss, expressed with Maverick’s distinct soulful and aching manner. Each word, delicately sung, as if scared the wind would break the chain.

Expertly, on ‘8 Stages’, he also leads us into the song with a brief but seamless rap, as he flows over the guitar instrumental. It soon gives way to acute expression.

He sings, “Still have your messages, and my promise in a bottle/ hope that it reaches you when you get home.

“Some say you fade, and slip away, and it all goes dark. I hope that you smile when you let go.”

His last album, “Burn The Right Things Down,” saw the artist explore new sonic territory and was followed by a sold-out tour.

He is currently in Australia supporting Hilltop Hoods on their sold-out six-week stadium tour, and has his own headline shows at Factory Theatre and Corner Hotel.
