Lavaud Provides Sweet Escapism In The Visuals To Her Single ‘Oh My’, Featuring Reekado Banks

The British-Mauritian native joins forces with Afrobeat heavyweight Reekado Banks to deliver a sweet new offering titled ‘Oh My’.

Lavaud (pronounced ‘La-Vo’) seamlessly dips in and out of French dialect as she sings about finally finding true and genuine love. The Hackney-hailed artist blends R&B and afrobeats with her sultry melodies and island-inspired rhythms to create an enjoyable listening experience.

The video is the result of British-Nigerian director, Christina Nwabugo, and PRMISE LAND studios merging their creative ideas to visually communicate the passion behind the song. Lavuad meets her love interest laying on the golden sand on the island of Jamaica where she switches between colourful garments. It comes to a bittersweet ending as her love interest eventually disappears into the azure-coloured sea. Still on a high from his long awaited EP release, Reekado Banks’ addition to the song perfectly ties together the Afrobeat sounds of the track.

Sharing her thoughts on the track, the singer says: “Oh My is about prayers coming true when you discover real love, there’s a point when we cross past infatuation and fall deep into love, this connection and dedication to someone special is so spiritual. Lavaud explains; ”I wanted to capture that freedom in a way that made people relate but also feel good when they hear it.

Expanding the reaches of her creativity, she also collaborated with British-Nigerian designer Tokyo James on a limited edition #OHMYTOKYOJAMES collection which was featured in James’ London Fashion Week show back in February. This is also the opening track to her debut EP which is set to be released in April.
