Lagos-born artist Deto Black delivers brand new single ‘Sisi Eko’

Flying the flying for Nigeria’s alté scene, Deto Black has returned with brand new single ‘Sisi Eko’, from the lyrics to the self-directed visuals, the entire track gives off boss babe energy as Deto fiercely sings lyrics like ‘If ain’t about don’t call me’, while simultaneously throwing a wad of cash in the air.

Produced by Genio, a multi-platinum DJ, producer and songwriter, who has worked with the likes of Davido, Tiwa Savage, Mr Eazi and more, ‘Sisi Eko’ has an addictive beat that can get you moving instantly, as blends elements of afro pop sounds and fast paced drum patterns that pay homage to Deto’s Nigerian heritage.

The self directed music video is shot in an office space, along with the assistance of Mowalola, flicking between solo shots of Deto looking flawless and energetic dance moments where Deto is joined by what she calls “the absolute baddest of baddies in Lagos,” which includes guest appearances from Tara Gold, Whitney Osai, Muna, Jessica Duru, BratzBih, Naomi Offor (ixuvii), Steph Terah and Lagos paparazzi Jand.

Speaking on the track, Deto Black says:

“Everyone talks about how the dating scene in Lagos has become somewhat transactional but what they fail to realise is that it’s always been, the only difference is now women have caught on and are demanding their worth in cash lol. I find the whole dynamic interesting and as anthropologist turned rapper I decided to put my studies in a song lol. It’s a voice for the girls’ perspective, words aren’t enough, put your money where your mouth is.

I made this with Genio, a legendary producer in Lagos who I’ve worked with since the start of my career. I wanted to experiment with my sound and being back in Lagos there’s so much going on and so much to draw inspiration from.”

‘Sisi Eko’ follows on from Deto’s recent link up with international DJ and producer SPINALL for his latest track SHABA featuring Mavo, which is already an instant summertime anthem, from this to the latest dance floor shaker that is‘Sisi Eko’, Deto Black is a name that needs to be on everyone’s lips this year, if you didn't know her before you’ll definitely know who she is by the end of 2026.
