Casablanca Serves 70s Monte Carlo Luxe With Their FW21 Tailoring Collection

The glitz of Monte Carlo provides inspiration for Charaf Tajer once more in lux and leisurewear brand Casablanca’s new Fall/Winter 2021 tailoring collection. Keeping in line with the brand’s affinity to re-interpret timeless luxurious environments, the collection harnesses the glamorous aesthetic of the famous late night Monte Carlo casino scene through expertly tailored suit jackets and trousers.


Refined but relaxed silhouettes and vivid, playful colours invoke the image of tycoons, gamblers and race car drivers dressed to the nines ready for a lively night of games and champagne. Playing cards in particular are referenced throughout, from diamond iconography printed onto a cropped harlequin suit jacket and trousers, to diamond - shaped buttons adorning the suiting.


Bold, luxurious colours and fabrics are utilised across the suits creating unique and fun looks that mesh the Monaco luxe with the brand's youthful aura. A vibrant green suit cut from a silk-blend fabric made using an artisanal weaving technique is a highlight, as are the Alaskan Blue, Candlelight Peach and Persimmon suits made from fabric woven from Australian merino yarns. Quality is assured - not only were the fabrics manufactured at renowned fabric mills to ensure richness in colour, all of the suiting is certified as part of Casablanca’s work with The Woolmark Company.





Speaking about the collection, Tajar expresses that “Tailoring for us is extremely important. Part of our creative process has always been to take classic elements of fashion and applying our modern take on them. For us, the challenge and pleasure of making a suit is bringing it into the modern world through the lens of Casablanca”.


The campaign location could not be more fitting then; shot in a Carlo Scarpa building, the collections commitment to reimaging classic aesthetics for the modern day perfectly reflects the late Italian architect’s penchant for renovating old buildings with a contemporary touch, marrying the traditional with modern processes. “Shooting this campaign in a building designed by architect Carlo Scarpa was a dream come true” Tajar says “The way he took an impossible, almost untouchable city and left a modern imprint is comparative to the way we design.”


Encapsulated in the location, the models styling and set design also invoke the vintage but timeless feel - afros, oversized sunglasses, shoulder length side swept wavy hair and typewriters complement the 70s glamour inspired clothing, becoming the perfect final touches in creating the lavish and nostalgic atmosphere that we’ve come to expect from Casablanca.
