Slowthai & Skepta Make A Filmic & Social Statement On New Single 'CANCELLED'

Making an appearance on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show, Slowthai and Skepta join forces once again to make their statement on the social climate of cancel culture. The record is a reassured and confident take, responding to those that may have called for their figurative heads in the past year or so. Some may see this as unwarranted braggadocio of narcissism and unacceptance, others may see the new release as rebelling against the narrative created by those seeking to taint the legacy they have worked so hard to build.

As slowthai sits on the precipice of releasing his hugely anticipated second album ‘TYRON’ he leans into a turbulent year. Across the album the message is clear – every human makes mistakes but the most beneficial outcome is to pause, step back, reflect, learn and grow.

The official video directed by THE REST is out now and cleverly draws on a swathe of classic horror movie references. From the opening sketch taken from Scary Movie that sees Ty, Skep, Kwes. Krash and Samo hollering ‘WAGWAAAAAAN?’ down the phone to each other, to slowthai being Patrick Bateman (American Psycho) through Silence of The Lambs, Candyman, Nightmare on Elm Street and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
