The two artists have previously worked together on Travis Scott's collaborative album JACKBOYS on a remix of Number one song 'Highest In The Room'.
The track sung in both English and Spanish, 'TKN' is a reggaeton-infused number that not only brings forward Mafia-type characteristics but also warnings. The track fuses Middle Eastern melodies with urban sounding beats, with songwriting about trust and having a powerful leader. Scott brings along his deep vocals and sings in Spanish along with Rosalía.
There are levels for everything in this life
We don't f--k with people we don’t know
No new friends, no new wounds
No new friends, no new wounds
In a statement about the track, Rosalía says: "I feel that now is the moment to release this song, after so many months of staying indoors, missing freedom, or being with people we love,. I hope 'TKN' gives you energy, makes you dance, and gives you strength if you’re going through difficult times. With all my love <3.”
The video, directed by Nicolás Méndez who is one part of the Spanish producer duo Canada, shows Rosalía as a mother to a pack of children roaming the streets of Los Angeles as Scott looks on.
Since being in quarantine, Rosalia has been working on a follow-up to her Grammy-winning album El Mal Querer, an album that tells the story of romance and an abusive relationship. Her song with Scott however, has been in the works for over a year. “There are artists that when they come into the room, everybody … gets smaller,” she told Zane Lowe on the latest episode of Apple Music’s Beats1. “But with Travis, it’s not like that. It’s not like that. Everybody flows with him, he’s flowing, and it’s beautiful like that. And I think that he’s very special and that we had a lot of fun.”
