Black Sherif Claims ‘PopStar’ Position with His First Single Of The Year

After recently unveiling PUMA’s 2026 World Cup kits alongside retired footballer Asamoah Gyan and American-Dominican streamer Fanum in New York, Black Sherif is back with his first 2026 single titled ‘PopStar’.

Marking the start of a new era, moving on from IRON BOY, ‘PopStar’ reveals a softer, more introspective dimension of Blacko’s artistry. Although he repeatedly proclaims that everybody knows he’s a pop star, the song is not a declaration of bravado. Rather, it is a reflection of a young artist documenting his life as it unfolds year by year.

Produced by Joker, the lyrics centre on ambition, clarity, and a willingness to dream bigger than ever before. Sherif leans into a new light, embracing his global recognition with a sense of ease and in command.

Accompanied by a music video, the Ghanaian star is the only person featured in the visual. Shot in a studio, his outfit is themed on the Regency era, the same period that the Netflix Bridgerton series is set in. Blacko wears a tailcoat and hand gloves embellished with rhinestones as he dances by himself.

Truly, Black Sherif has been nothing short of a popstar since his breakout with the ‘Sermon’ freestyle series. He further went ten toes deep with his global smash hit ‘Kwaku the Traveller’ which earned the most Shazamed song globally.
