Known Source Immerses Us Into Massimo Osti’s Legacy at The Exchange

Known Source continues to solidify its position as a leading force in archive culture with the second iteration of its monthly series at The Exchange, this time turning its focus toward the pioneering work of Massimo Osti. Stationed in the heart of Marylebone, the upcoming edition transforms the 9,000 square foot space into a fully immersive environment dedicated to Osti’s legacy, bringing together over 2,000 archive pieces from 15 of the most respected collectors and dealers in the field. The experience positions itself as an educational and cultural moment, unpacking the innovation behind brands like Stone Island, C.P. Company, Left Hand, Boneville and World Wide Web (WWW).

The event builds on the momentum of Known Source’s debut activation, which saw over 1,000 attendees pass through its doors, an early signal of the growing appetite for archive fashion presented through a community-first lens. As the physical extension of its e-commerce platform, which houses thousands of curated vintage pieces from over 50 global dealers, Known Source’s programming offers a tangible way to engage with garments that are often confined to digital spaces. Each month brings a new thematic lens, with upcoming focuses spanning technical-wear, the Antwerp Six, and streetwear, reinforcing the platform’s commitment to depth and specificity within niche fashion communities.

Central to this edition is a rare UK appearance from Lorenzino Piazzi, a long-time collaborator and former assistant to Massimo Osti. Having spent over two decades inside Osti’s studio, Piazzi played a crucial role in shaping the experimental direction of both Stone Island and C.P. Company. His presence at The Exchange offers attendees a unique opportunity to hear first-hand accounts of the research, development, and creative processes that defined one of fashion’s most technically innovative eras. Alongside an in-depth talk, Piazzi will also present selections from the relaunch of World Wide Web, a short-lived but visionary project that continues to hold cult status within archive circles.

Beyond the garments themselves, the event leans heavily into experience. From industry-led talks featuring respected dealers such as Matt’s Archivio, Tela Fella and 82archivestreet, to immersive installations like Jacob Wall Studio’s thermochromic furniture pieces, the space becomes a living archive. These elements work in tandem to highlight not only the aesthetic value of Osti’s work, but the technical ingenuity that underpins it, something that continues to influence contemporary design today.

Community remains at the core of Known Source’s ethos, exemplified by collector Sam Palmer, who will be hosting a special giveaway of pieces from his personal Stone Island archive. In a landscape often driven by exclusivity and resale value, this gesture flips the narrative, reinforcing the idea that archive culture is as much about shared appreciation as it is about ownership. It’s moments like these that continue to set Known Source apart, fostering genuine connection within an otherwise transactional space.

This deep dive into Massimo Osti’s universe also arrives at a time when Stone Island itself continues to expand its cultural footprint. Recent collaborations and pop-ups with Dover Street Market have further cemented the brand’s relevance, bridging its archival heritage with contemporary retail experiences. In this context, Known Source’s latest activation feels both timely and necessary, a rare opportunity to engage with the roots of a design language.
