Jeris Johnson and Trippie Redd Give Us a Dose of The Rockstar Life in ‘FRIDAY’ Visuals

A crash course in superstardom.

Jeris Johnson has become a seismic Tik Tok sensation over the past 12 months. The metalhead in question morphed into an animated post-punk popstar with his well-received pint-sized bangers ‘damn!’ alongside Ricky Desktop and August’s headbanging number ‘Going Ghost’.

Johnson’s latest track, however, might be his most ambitious to date. Trading in an air guitar or two for some emo trap posturing, Johnson’s ‘FRIDAY’ is a welcome change of pace. Co-produced by Sacco, ‘FRIDAY’ sees Johnson team up Ohio’s resident cloud rap and indie hip-hop sensation Trippie Redd. ‘FRIDAY’ gives you everything you expect from a Jeris Johnson record. Still, the added trap-like colloquialisms pave the way for a unique synergy between electrifying pop-rock and syrupy emo rap.

“’FRIDAY’ is the greatest party anthem of all time. Every single Friday from now till the end of the world, you will hear drunken chants echoing through every bar, frat house, tailgate, office party – “IT WAS JUST A FRIDAY”. This is the song that will heal the world from a two-year global pandemic,” said Johnson. “This song will unite warring countries, erase family feuds, and save relationships on the brink of collapse. Cause if there’s one thing all eight billion of us can agree on, it’s FRIDAYS ARE FUCKING AWESOME. Let’s rage.”

The video is about as nuts as you’d expect. Johnson and Trippie’s chemistry on the track is further expounded upon throughout the visuals kinetic, frantic Y2K style. The ‘FRIDAY’ video gives viewers a window into the rockstar lifestyle with party-packed tour buses, screaming fans and makeshift stages.
