Jamie xx Breathes Energy Into ‘Life’ With Help From Swedish Sensation Robyn

Jamie xx is undoubtedly one of the strongest artists that the UK currently boasts, never containing himself to any genre, often traversing the musical landscape, and often turning anything he touches into gold. Having recently teamed up with Honey Dijon in their joyous Summer collaboration ‘Baddy On The Dance Floor’, and the release of ‘Treat Each Other Right’ which felt reminiscent of the Jamie xx of old in his trademark 'In Waves' sound, he now teams up with Swedish sensation Robyn on ‘Life’. 

The latest release ‘Life’ featuring the Swedish heavy-hitter, most famously known for her emotive dance anthems, is a single that is fuelled by a blaze of horns and filtered loops, in a testament to nu-disco that sees the two of them place themselves front and centre of modern culture in one of the most exciting projects of 2024. Talking on the release, Jamie explains: “I made this track pretty fast (for me) and I loved it from day one. When I first heard Robyn’s vocal it was at 6am after finishing playing at Pacha in Ibiza, it was the perfect moment. Robyn and I have spent time working together and hanging out for some years now, it’s always a joy and always inspiring, I’m so glad and grateful that she is a part of In Waves. Thank you Robyn for bringing this track to life!”

Jamie xx’s album announcement see’s him follow a release schedule 9 years on from his GRAMMY, BRIT, Ivor Novello and Mercury Music Prize-nominated debut album ‘In Colour’, and with the first singles giving us a sample of what is to come, if the album follows suit the project could be spoken about as one of the artist’s finest bodies of work to date.
