One of the most famous designers to have ever lived was Alexander McQueen and on February 11th marks the 11th anniversary of his death. Lee Alexander McQueen, CBE (17 March 1969-11 February 2010) was an English fashion designer and couturier From 1996 to 2001, he served as chief designer at Givenchy, and in 1992 he created his own Alexander McQueen label. His fashion accomplishments won him four British Designer of the Year awards (1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003), as well as the Foreign Designer of the Year award from the CFDA.
Gary McQueen (Alexander's nephew) recently did an article with Harper Bazar talking about his late uncle and reminiscing his childhood with him. Gary stated "Before that, I had never considered fashion, but because Alexander McQueen embraced the digital movement quite early on in terms of textiles, I fitted in well. I learnt to adapt my skills and it ended up being a really good platform for me to express myself as an artist. It was about me embracing something within myself and Lee giving me that opportunity to do that with the fashion industry; he helped me to realise what the future could hold. He gave people opportunities, but it was up to them to do something with it. Being his nephew was no different."
In honour of Alexandr Mcqueen here are the must haves for the summer-spring collection of 2021! and where you can shop them.
