FKA Twigs Drops 'holy terrain' Ft Future

FKA twigs has dropped an artistically dark and witchy music video for her new single 'holy terrain' featuring Future which boasts production credits from the likes of Skrillex, Arca and Jack Antonoff. 'The track is the second single from her upcoming album MAGDALENE, set to be released on October 25th. Twigs has added multiple new dates to her successful 2019 MAGDALENE tour including a London show this November. The video was directed by Twigs and Nick Walker with styling from creative director Matthew Josephs and choreography by Tovaris Wilson and Theo Oliver. Genre-wise the track show Twigs in a different light to her previous releases, the beat is undoubtedly trap but features an almost tribal energy throughout with lightly processed vocals making the song all the more intimate and mesmerising.

In the song Twigs laments about finding a lover who will treat her how she deserves to be loved. With Future playing the role of her counterpart in the song it most definitely makes for an interesting collaboration between the two very different artists considering the context of the song in comparison to their pasts. The addition of Future displays a more commercial and well realised version of Twigs and her artistry, offering insight into what's to come on the new album. Visually the video has been called reminiscent of Madonnas 'Frozen' and Aaliyah's 'We Need A Resolution' and Azealia Banks 'Yung Rapunxel'. In an interview with I-D Magazine Twigs called Future’s verse beautiful saying:

“He’s just talking about his downfalls as a man; how he’s sorry and asking for healing. I love sad Future. I love when he gets emo, when he expresses himself. It’s just so beautiful when he opens up.”
