The songstress hailing from Wolverhampton has released yet another stunning single 'Oblivion', influenced by the y2k pop of Billie Piper and silky vocals of Destiny's Child. With Cariss Auburn's upcoming EP Refraction due to be released in May 2021 via Modern Sky, she fortifies her sound with alt-pop and R&B embellishments, as well as being inspired by powerful women within the music industry such as Bree Runway, Denai Moore and FKA Twigs.
'Oblivion' is a pensive track that Auburn had envisioned whilst having a reflective moment about people close to her.
"I was zoning out in my room remembering the feeling of getting ready with my friends and going out and it was like I was remembering someone else’s life from a different universe. Oblivion’ is kind of an amalgamation of those days and nights, the worst and the best ones, mad stuff we did but still loving each other to death. We message each other to scream and have a giggle over those memories but it’s bittersweet and it always has been for me. Oblivion is a reflection on that -finding a moment of peace with my close ones and what it means to try hold onto it.
'Oblivion' is a track that sends us to another planet. With her trip to Japan still trickling down into her music, she formulates a stimulating piece of work that lets us bask in a daydream for a couple minutes at a time. She calls her songs '3 minute holidays' which rings true with each captivating track Cariss Auburn has offered us and we can't wait for her EP release!
