A Dream You Can Scroll Through: Zara Larsson’s Pinterest Playground

Catching up with Zara Larsson between shows on her Midnight Sun tour, she’s radiating the same bright, mischievous energy that defines her stage presence. Even [maybe especially] online, she maintains this electric air of glittering chaos. It surrounds her like she’s someone who’s been living inside her own technicolour world. Her sentences come out fast, tumbling into each other like confetti. “It’s been so much fun,” she says, grinning. “Probably my favourite run of shows so far.”

Her effervescence spills over into her latest collaboration with Pinterest, Gifts for the Online Girlie, part of the platform’s broader Festive Season Edit. The board, a visual diary for the whimsical and digitally fluent, truly feels like an extension of her. It’s all swan-shaped handbags, sparkly hair clips, and a princess dress she first spotted in a Toronto vintage shop and instantly fell in love with. “It’s just… me,” she laughs. “I saw it and thought, I don’t know when I’ll wear it, but I need it.”

If Pamela Anderson’s board is “Holiday on the Farm” and Rare Beauty’s is “Cozy Gifts,” Zara’s is a love letter to the chronically online. “I’m an online girlie,” she says proudly. “I work a lot, but somehow I still have this completely ridiculous amount of screen time. And honestly, that’s fine. It’s part of who I am.”

Larsson’s self-awareness is part of what makes her so lovely. She deeply embodies what it means to see the online girl as muse. She talks about her digital habits the way people talk about their star signs: lots of humour and lots of reverence! “At first, I thought maybe it was lame to comment on everything,” she admits. “Like maybe I was doing too much. But then I thought, no… I see everything. I read everything. I love knowing what people are talking about.”

Zara’s internet presence is golden. The memes, the replies, the earnest tweets before she left Twitter entirely, they all pioneered a niche type of pop star authenticity. Before “relatable” became PR catnip, she had loudly been posting from her bedroom, arguing about feminism, and fangirling over Beyoncé. “I’ve always loved internet culture. It’s how we connect now. It’s our language.”

That’s why Pinterest feels like such a natural partnership. It’s the platform where, as she puts it, “you can just like things without falling into people’s opinions about them.” It’s the calmer side of the digital playground; so much inspiration, and very little discourse. Like the art teacher who opens up her classroom at lunchtime so you can get away from the mean girls. “It’s so peaceful. It’s like the good part of the internet.”

Zara Larsson’s 2025 is full world-builder mode. Her latest era, Midnight Sun, is a fantasia of pastel lights, gorgeous chain belts, and dolphin motifs. She’s created this playful, glowing universe that her fans are rightfully obsessed with. “At my shows, I see people dressed up like they’re part of it,” she says, lighting up. “Flowers in their hair, glitter everywhere. It’s like they’ve stepped into my world, but also made it their own.”

Her Pinterest board is a digital manifestation of that aesthetic, unfiltered by commerce or practicality. “There’s this swan bag I love,” she says, eyes widening. “You can’t fit anything in it. Maybe not even a lip gloss. But it’s beautiful. Very impractical, but very me.”

She scrolls constantly, searching for colours, lighting references, and outfits for tour visuals. “I have a board for almost everything in my life. Interiors, styling, stage ideas, just random vibes. It helps me understand what I actually like.”

That word, like, feels essential to the Zara Larsson philosophy. Whether it’s a saved image, a lyric, or a dress she’s still deciding how to wear, her approach to discovery is always instinctual. “It took me a long time to trust my taste. But now I’m like, yeah, I think my taste is fun. Even if everyone doesn’t love it, at least it’s mine.”

Pinterest’s Festive Season Edit reflects a similar logic: gifts curated not by data alone, but by perceptiveness. The campaign’s broader goal is to make holiday shopping a little less chaotic. It features a collection of boards built from trending searches and celebrity curations. Think “Wallet-Friendly Finds,” inspired by searches for funky mugs and spiral candles, or “Gifts for the Chronically Caffeinated,” featuring rising searches for coffee carrier gifts.

Zara’s Gifts for the Online Girlie board, though, is slightly different. It isn’t purely functional; it’s romantic. It’s a celebration of her (and you!): her personality, her taste, her digital self; all the things her community have fallen head over heels for. “It’s like sharing your moodboard with the world. It’s a little bit personal, but also fun. It’s like when you see a girl on the street and go, ‘Oh my God, where’s your bag from?’ That’s how I want people to feel.”

Our favourite thing about Zara’s guide is how ethereal it remains while still feeling refreshingly human. Because joy, even if mediated through a screen, is still joy.

When asked what song she’d make the soundtrack to her Pinterest board, she says, “Euro Summer! It’s summery, colourful, fun… and honestly, a little silly. Perfect for a [Zara Larsson] Christmas guide.”

That ‘sunshine in a snowstorm’ essence seems to sum up Zara’s universe. Her Gifts for the Online Girlie board is absolutely a shopping list, but it also reminds us that taste can be a hobby, and curation is self expression. It’s meant to make you smile, save a few things you don’t need, and maybe start a board of your own.

Even in the chaos of our screens, Zara Larsson still makes the internet look like a dream. The least the rest of us can do is join in.

“Searching on Pinterest is my favourite way to feel inspired. It encourages me to be more creative - whether it's to style my home, recreate an image for content in my own way, or pull together a really great outfit. I hope my Pinterest board sparks some ideas to help everyone celebrate their own vibe this festive season, and inspires them to find gifts that feel unique and personal!” - Zara Larsson
