Tamera Returns With Self-Aware 'Insensitive' As She Opens Up To Love

Love is a theme that is familiar to Tamera and one that she is known to revisit. The songstress' debut project Afrodite was a celebration of her Greek and African heritage named after the Greek goddess of love Afrodite, it colourfully depicted different experiences of being in love.

And now returning in shades and tones of the tropics shine through on Tamera’s new single ‘Insensitive’, a release that signals a shift in approach as she looks further afield to her West African, Nigerian roots.

Born in Kent, Tamera as a child nutured her talent for singing when visiting the church and spending time with her grandmother who was a minister. She was also exposed to the sounds of R&B from listening to Beyonce and Alicia Keys played around the house by her mother.

On ‘Insensitive’, Tamera’s seductive vocals are sung sweetly as she enchantingly casts a spell on both her audience and the object of her affection. Warm harmonies brush against the vibrations left by the Spanish guitars, subtle horns and jumpy percussion.

The track is about loving someone and realising that the way you love someone isn’t always the best for that person. the talented songstress adorns her lover in praise but acknowledges her love language and the potential harm it can cause. Like many people, she cannot help carrying the trauma of past relationships into her current one.

However ultimately, Tamera comes to the conclusion during the duration of the song that she wouldn’t want to have anyone else. She sings I know I get insensitive I’ve been loving you insensibly."

Signalled as one to watch, Tamera says:

Although I’ve dealt with trust issues in the past and found it hard to fully open up to a partner, the person I’m referring to in the song has really done the work to make me comfortable enough to fully open up and flourish in the relationship & for someone who has always found this difficult it has become the greatest pleasure to return that same love in tenfold. That is the inspiration behind insensitive."
