Developed by Amy Molyneaux, Studio Molyneaux marks the launch of its first collection at London Fashion Week SS25’. The designer was previously responsible for cult London label PPQ, in addition to collections for Amy Winehouse, Fred Perry and Adidas, to name a few. No stranger to the world of fashion, Molyneaux has over twenty five years experience in the industry, with regular shows during LFW and a host of celebrity fans.
Models were fresh-faced and painted with bright red lipstick. The designer was clearly not afraid of colour, making it apparent that this would be an exuberant and inviting spring/ summer season. Shiny red bandanas were wrapped around hairstyles. Bright chartreuse dresses were embellished with gold buttons and black pocket detail. All the while, royal blue diamante shoes strutted past.
The colour green appeared consistently throughout the collection, as well as blue and red. Striped patterns complemented skin-tight silhouettes and turquoise two piece suits. Guests were gifted lavender Studio Molyneaux head scarves which we also saw the models wearing throughout the duration of the catwalk. Both mens and womens fashion was showcased during the runway event. Bright colours complemented mischievous floral patterns and thick striped headscarves. Fuschia leggings were printed with daisies and married up with metallic baby blue trenches.
The next exciting chapter of the brand is marked by the ready-to-wear collection which features a reimagining of the beloved, Gabriel bag. Nostalgic styles mark the series of works which appear one by one in the intimate venue. New shapes presented amongst previous styles via exclusive prints and luxe fabrics. Models walked throughout the audience which is positioned in a U shape, giving those in attendance the chance to view details up close as they sauntered down the runway.
The collection is inspired by the plethora of music history of the show’s venue. The location in particular is part of its allure. The Farsite Gallery spans between the original Sex Pistols rehearsal space and “Regent Sounds Studio” where the Rolling Stones recorded their first album. Studio Molyneaux’s new collection is dotted with joy, exciting combination possibilities, and a reawakening of inspiration by way of bright colourways and perky prints.
