GANT X Yale Re-Envisions Ivy League Fashion

For GANT, Yale is no new stomping ground. Founded in 1949, the brand has a history of dressing America’s elite and is widely recognised for helping popularise prep fashion. Now, GANT returns to New Haven for a contemporary twist on the vintage collegiate styles that contributed to Yale’s fashion history.

As one of the first retailers to carry GANT’s button-down shirts, Yale’s Co-op supported a growing movement in the mix of American sportswear with traditional elegant dress by college boys. GANT’s original shirt-making speciality, paired with more modern athletic pieces stabilised an adoption of modern takes on American formal styles from the early 1900s. Eventually, this style inspired students of all social classes to follow suit, with its popularity offering everyone a chance to balance class and cool.

The Ivy League schools maintain a legacy of bourgeois, refinement and tradition, which GANT x Yale’s multi-seasonal collection seeks to introduce to a younger generation through timeless fashion. This homecoming is a love letter to New Haven and the northeast of America, with an authentic origin story tied to heritage fashions.

Various archival references and silhouettes can be found in the menswear collection. Iconic elements of Ivy style such as Letterman knitwear and tailored tweed blazers give traditional structure to a revamped selection. The chinos are also an endearing nod to the early 1900s, as a menswear staple is reimagined with British wool and Italian cotton for a soft finish. Joining an old-money history with a new-money style, the heritage fabrics on contemporary cuts keep the integrity of the collegiate theme. The car coat is a nostalgic touch, balancing the modern interpretation of an everyday trench coat with traditional tailoring.

The womenswear range is similar, with staple pieces and chic vintage-inspired skirts presenting heritage designed to the contemporary woman. Soft pastel-coloured ruggers provide feminine tweaks to a boyish style, pairing well with classic Oxford shirts underneath. The varsity cardigan is a lighter version of a varsity jacket, with a relaxed fit and embroidered badge circling back to sporty beginnings. A hand stitched pinstripe club blazer connects to modern womenswear well, as a more casual take on businesswear. Finally, the leather pleated skirt meets a new-age closet nicely, with the prep style at the centre of the design.

The collection’s campaign was shot on the historic Yale campus in New Haven, grounding the collaboration in the university and city that helped shape GANT’s early identity. Surrounded by the architecture and atmosphere of the Ivy League institution, the collection brings its heritage into a contemporary setting, reinforcing the balance between tradition and modernity at the heart of the partnership.

The GANT x Yale Fall 2026 collection is available now at GANT.com.
