London-based rising star Rue Delaney releases her new single ‘That Girl’ ahead of her upcoming highly anticipated debut EP titled ‘Hello Dark World. The sophomore track from her upcoming debut EP, ‘That Girl’, is a song that depicts a conversation between Rue and her former self, constructed through a mesmerising guitar sound that allows space for the talented young artist to address the person she refuses to become again. It is a soulful, introspective insight into the mind of an incredible young creative that has such a big future ahead of her. Talking on ‘That Girl’ Rue muses: “I think it’s this song that means the most to me from the EP. It’s the realisation that for a long time you took the blame to numb someone else’s pain that had always existed before you. and never being that girl again for anyone.”
Alongside the release of ‘That Girl’, Rue also announced the release date for her upcoming EP, a record that follows the themes of violence towards women, mental health, and LGBTQ+ rights, 'Hello Dark World' is a body of work showing how mature and self-aware the young artist is to dissect such complex socio cultural concerns, but do it in a way that is easily digestible for all those who listen, and a work of art that many can empathise with. Written and co-produced by Josef Page, who has previously worked with the likes of Saint Raymond and Laura Welsh, Rue Delaney explains: “I felt like Joey created an environment for me to express what was really going on behind the scenes. The world we made in the studio helped me remove myself from the immediacy of the pain and focus on a body of work that moved me forwards.”
There is every reason to be confident in the young artist, with Rue recently signing to 235 Music Publishing, getting picked up by Jess Kinn at One Fiinix for live, agent for Ed Sheeran and Years & Years, and caught the eye of MNRK Music, who now represent her for management. BBC Introducing Kent recently explained of the incredible talent: “Rue Delaney, that’s the name that you need to remember because we are expecting big, big things from her. Really, really excited for the rest of 2022 and what Rue is going to give us.” Meanwhile Rue’s last single ‘Butterfly’ attained support from the likes of Clash, Crack, Line of Best Fit and more. An extremely exciting artist, and one that has such immense potential with an incredible future ahead of her.
