Ruby Roberts Shows No Sign of Burning Out with ‘Bad Girl July’

Since the release of her debut EP Somersault Queen back in November 2025 that has amassed over 16 million streams, pop starlet Ruby Roberts has continued to go from strength to strength.

With a solo headline tour under her belt, upcoming performances at Reading and Leeds Festival, as well as a support slot for the legendary Christina Aguilera at Sandringham Estate in August, Ruby Roberts is having a great 2026.

Her latest release ‘Bad Girl July’ sees Ruby take a change in direction from her debut EP, as she is opting for a darker texture within the production and general mood.

The song itself is a collection of different genres that are carefully sprinkled over emotionally charged and conflicted lyrics.

The bossa nova layer in the instrumentation throughout the verses, gives the song a slight sense of uncertainty, acting as a perfect crux to the turbulent emotions that create a compelling storyboard for the listener.

The verses are filled with a brimming level of vengeance that are palpable within her vocal delivery, drawing the listener into an urgency to hear what might happen next, as well as what caused this need for revenge.

However, in the chorus, we hear her voice quickly slip into a softer tone with a similar cadence to pop juggernaut Lana Del Rey, with the lyrics reflecting this change. “Wait, I think I want to sit this one out.” Suddenly, she finds herself not wanting to be burdened by the weight of these heavy feelings and decides to surrender to peace as “July has been kind of burning me out.”

Honestly, with this recent heat wave I can barely think or have the capability to repeat myself more than once, so these lyrics are very relatable. With such a strong start in the industry and a fanbase that is rapidly growing, Ruby is setting her sights on pop stardom and is looking to achieve it sooner rather than later.
