UK-based musician known for his unique blend of ambient, experimental, electronic and jazzy lo-fi rap music Nix Northwest has finally releases his highly anticipated album Xin's Disappearance. The release is a conceptual album that tells the story of a fictional character named Xin, who disappears in a dystopian future. Following up from his 2019 Life's A Bitch, I Just Need An Early Night', Nix has pushed boundaries with his musical abilities and reminded us that although Xin might he heading off, Nix isn't disappearing off our radar anytime soon.
From releasing a handful of singles to tease the album within the past few months such as 'The Occasional L', 'Satan Doesn't Swim', and a surprise drop with soulful songstress ENNY 'You Ain't Got A Chance Boy', the album features fifteen tracks, each of which evokes a different mood and atmosphere. From the hazy melodies of 'Problems' to the upbeat rhythms of 'Rearview Mirror', Nix Northwest showcases his versatility as a producer and his ability to create immersive sonic landscapes. The album's standout track 'Sun In My Eyes' offers a slow-burning piece that builds and layering ethereal vocals and shimmering synths towards the end to create a sense of melancholy introspection. With vocals provided by longtime friend and collaborator B-ahwe, the album's emotional depth as a whole is a testament to Nix Northwest's ability to convey complex emotions through his music and how relatable he can be.
Xin's Disappearance is a compelling album that showcases Nix Northwest's talent as a musician and his ability to create immersive, thought-provoking music. Fans of jazzy indie tones fused with lo-fi rap will find much to enjoy here, and the album's thoughtful concept adds an extra layer of intrigue to an already fascinating work.
