Nigerian Banku champion Mr Eazi has announced a new EP called Something Else. With an ever-growing enterprise the singer, songwriter and entrepreneur has been working diligently in the last year. The EP has been released via Mr Eazi’s very own Banku Music/emPawa Africa.
Eazi's achievements are far from selfish as the artist has been expanding his talent incubator emPawa Africa and launched the Africa Music Fund (a financial vehicle for creating obtainable capital for African artists). The EP follows a collaboration with J Balvin for their track “Lento”, and comes in the lead-up to his third studio album; tentatively titled Life is Eazi, Vol. 3 – after his breakthrough projects Life is Eazi, Vol. 1 Accra To Lagos (2017), and Life is Eazi, Vol. 2 - Lagos to London (2018).
For Eazi, Something Else is the “calm before the storm”. Speaking on the EP he addresses the grind behind becoming ‘Don Eazi’, “I spent the entire year working on emPawa”, “I almost had no time to record”. Lead single “The Don”, produced by Killertunes and E Kelly, is an operatic rendition of afro trap, followed by “E Be Mad”, which is a take on the Ghanaian highlife music of the past.
Something Else also features production from the likes of Spellz, Blaq Jerzee, Kel P and Jaylon, and a guest feature of Xenia Manasseh.
