Opening London Fashion Week yesterday morning guests awaited William Costelloe’s Creative Director debut at Paul Costelloe SS27.

Invitee’s were ushered into Banking Hall to be seated with Pimm’s cocktails in the early hours of what would be a busy day of schedules.

Opening the show was an illustration presented on a screen at the top of the catwalk depicting the late Paul Costelloe as a fox roaming London’s streets and carefully observing the craft of his designs. This beautiful portrait of the designer who passed earlier this year, started the show on a curious yet exciting note.

Placing Irish linen at the core of this season’s looks, there was an elegance and chicness placed on each design with a common theme of navy’s, white’s and the desire to be on the Riviera. Accessories took a forefront for Costelloe in this collection with the understanding that large summer totes are the way to a woman’s heart to carry everything a Costelloe woman needs. The looks were also accessorised with gold jewellery, black large frame sunglasses and sand orange wedged platform heels.

Finally, the silk scarves. They had an audience of their own as guests stared at their styling from top of the head to when they were placed around the waist of a swimsuit or attached to the tote bags. Playful tailoring was used in the design of jumpsuits, flowy culottes, crisp shirts, and gold buttoned jackets.The models’ hair loose and wavy, or perm curled to create the perfect 1980’s pairing to the structured shoulder pads that were confidently layered on top of matching bras. The hair and makeup felt summertime relaxed and untouched and the attitude of each model was nothing less of a Meredith Blake character.

The fashion house has been left in good hands to William as the reputation of class and timeless elegance continues to live on at Paul Costelloe.
