Maison Mihara Yasuhiro Stuns With Autumn/ Winter collection

The bustling streets of Tokyo set the background of this fantastic collection. Heavily inspired by the 1990s version of the city, Mihara Yasuhiro created a collection that celebrates his early roots in the fashion industry. "In an era when information has become much easier to obtain globally, I’ve turned to localising myself with my surroundings,” said Mihara as he reflected on his AW22 collection.

The mesh of American military style with unique Japanese trends was incorporated into a wide range of garments in the collections. It is thus, easy to see the theme of ‘SELF CULTURE’ as the collection embodies a mix of East and West.

Much of the collection pays critically repurposes second-hand clothing that Mihara had been collecting over the years. Entitled 'Modified' this new style creates layers of depth and intricacy throughout the collection. Other garments are reconstructed in order to create an asymmetrical look.

The main silhouette found across the collection fits into the characteristic oversized aesthetic. Much of the styling encompasses a vintage style with modern pieces. In the menswear collection, the unique denim jackets and leather jackets steal the show. The multi-layered approach calls for attention to detail with each piece collectively working to create a fantastic outfit.

The womenswear collection creates a similar effect. The hypnotic glitter fabric and floor-length skirts carry the collection into a new world of winter fashion.

The collection evidently seems to be for the modern person. At a time when vintage and oversized fashion, heavily inspired by streetwear, are at the forefront of trends, Mihara Yasuhiro sets his collection apart by bringing the flair of Tokyo to the rest of the world.
