Emerging Artist 00ab Unleashes new single 'Menace'

Like skin making contact with a static shock, 00ab ignites a sense of caution - prompting you to slow down and pay attention - to forget the hype and remember that music is still so virtuous. To avoid stumbling through the discourse of genre being a relic of the past, 00ab too undoubtedly follows suit to that testament. The newcomer glides through the barriers of genre in his discovery of his personal sound. Though newish to the scene, the artist already embodies the significance of permanence, where he constructs a soundscape that borders timeless. Cataloging the progression of his music on his blog, 00ab is insightfully candid on his journey, combing through feelings and emotions on everything from the timing of his debut to his newest release and even his innate sense for fluidity in his music, where he's as an intentional talent with something to say.

Releasing his newest single ‘Menace’ produced by friend and frequent collaborator remikayodae, we’re immersed in the artist's natural finesse and knack for slick production. Through flush beats, there’s a dash of Brazilian funk and jazzy trumpets wound in the musings of his ex-girlfriend, gifting listeners a vulnerably catchy track. Oozing with the audacity of a Brent Faiyaz, 00ab is cheeky with his self-awareness, allowing you a brief insight into the relatable perspective of its creator in flexing his music as a cathartic medium. Unpacking the crippling stresses and insecurities that come with 'dating a 10/10', Menace coasts in a moment of resolve.

Easing on to the scene in 2020, he’s a covert talent moving with a mission - able to tap a unique tact and persistence where experience may waver. Picking up music from a more recent unwavering love of freestyling - he began recording and posting tracks on Soundcloud, a move that would be the catalyst starter in his journey to a fully formed rapper and artist.

" When I was chilling with my friends, the ‘Boy Scouts’ on our late 2019 trip to Oslo - they introduced me to the world of freestyling. I became addicted and developed an uncontrollable habit of freestyling in every social scenario.

A few months later, my friends Kehn9 and remikayodae had a recording session in early 2020. I asked Remi for a pack of beats after the session then one bored day months later during lockdown, I freestyl-ed and wrote to one of the beats. That freestyle eventually became my debut single ‘Right Time / Probably’ and I continued making songs from there.

This freestyle was the first musical contribution that I ever put into the world after I published it on my Soundcloud. Months later, I began doing sessions with my friends and then finally turned Right Time / Probably from a voice note in my phone to a song that I recorded in the studio. "
