Dsquared2 makes us see double

On Friday, Dean and Dan Caten, the iconic Canadian twins who crafted Dsquared2, delivered an out-of-this-world fashion show in Milan. Dsquared2 showcased polar opposite designs.

The show starts with models in grunge looks walking down the runway. Wearing massive hats, blinged-out belts, crop tops, underwear, and football jersey tops, the random list of clothing articles goes on. Nevertheless, great new pieces were shown for their Autumn/Winter 2024 collection, adhering to their signature 2000s-inspired designs.

With mud on their faces, the models walk into a small white pod and come out the other side, now with their faces clean, dressed in 70s-inspired evening attire. It seemed as if the models had jumped into a changing room and changed their look entirely within seconds. But like the Caten twins, the show consisted of just identical twins. One twin walked in as the other walked out.

As the show comes to an end, Dan Caten struts down the runway and into the makeover machine; out comes Dean, dressed in full drag. Causing the crowd to cheer in amazement. The Caten Twins really wowed their audience from the start to the end of their show, and the praise didn't just stop there; it was all the rage on social media.

People have pointed out that the show resembles Gucci’s 2023 Spring/Summer collection, Twinsburg. Yet Dsquared2 explores entirely different ideas. Initially, it seemed as if they wanted people to choose a side, grudge or glamorous. However, using identical twins aims to acknowledge how people can do both. People should be able to change styles when they want. The show was a strategic way to introduce some new designs to the Dsquared2, and the live-time visual effects enhanced the experience as a whole.
