The Houston rising star is fabricating the sounds of summer 2021, enrapturing his audience with intoxicating melodies and impassioned lyricism.
Don Toliver has returned with a new single, “What You Need”, accompanied by an official video. The track is our first glimpse into his forthcoming album L.O.A.D., which is set for release this summer.
The single is co-produced by Corbett and Hitboy and released through Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack label. The visuals – directed by Nabil – present Toliver travelling across Columbia’s lurching forests in a smoke-filled car and there’s even a brief cameo from Columbian encantadora Kali Uchis.
After stepping onto the scene with tracks like “Can’t Say”, which was featured on the latter half of Travis Scott’s highly acclaimed ASTROWORLD, the 26-year-old has begun to carve out his own path in the terrain of music. The release of his debut record Heaven or Hell in 2020 saw Toliver produce smash hits such as “After Party” and “No Idea,”. He has also contributed to a range of 2020’s big hitters, including Internet Money’s “Lemonade” with Gunna and NAV and Rico Nasty’s “Don’t Like Me” with Gucci Mane.
Coming into 2021 the Cactus Jack label artist has caught the attention of Spotify’s Rap Caviar Rookie of the Year and has been included in Apple Music’s Up Next, along with an appearance on Drakeo The Ruler’s The Truth Hurts mixtape with “Dawn Toliver” featuring the late Ketchy the Great.
