Chicago Rapper and Producer Saba Releases New Double-Single

“Ziplock” features Saba’s honeyed tones which spread like butter over production from D. Phelps and Coop the Truth, while “Rich Don’t Stop” is produced by frequent collaborators daedaePIVOT and Daoud, accompanied by an Ian Lipton–directed visual. Check it out below.

His last release was back Autumn with ‘So and So’ and ‘Areyoudown? Pt. 2’ which featured Nigerian born, Chicago-based rapper/producer tobi lou. Saba’s last solo album was 2018’s Care for Me, but he is said to be working towards a follow-up project.

He recently penned an earnest essay shedding light on a pertinent topic regarding the positives and negatives to working independently vs. signing to a label (‘Art, Ownership and Business’).

“I’m writing this essay to start an honest conversation around artist development and ownership. As an independent artist who has turned the dream into a financially sustainable career, I’m going to share with full transparency the investments I’ve made, the pieces I’ve put in place, and the numbers that made it work.”

Through his inward-looking lyricism, his latest release "Ziplock/Rich Don't Stop" continues a similar theme in detailing the rollercoaster ride to success.
