Wolverhampton's own Cariss Auburn unveiled her latest single 'Fantasy' which comes after her delicate EP Refraction which was released back in 2021.

In a unique blend of R&B and Pop, 'Fantasy' draws inspiration from Y2K influences as well as from Destiny's Child, Mary J. Blige, Bree Runway and Denai Moore. From receiving glowing and positive comments for her previous bodies of work, Cariss Auburn has been compared to FKA Twigs but also incorporates 80s synths into her work. With the visuals showing Cariss wading through a field of lush greenery, 'Fantasy' is however, a track that rejects loneliness.
"It’s also pure denial,” she adds. “I want to live a dream-life completely content with my own company but in real life, it isn’t easy for me to separate being alone from being lonely. The song expresses that limbo between escapism and reality.
It was a hard song to write, it took months, and it must’ve been 20 times I thought I’d finally got the chorus. Even writing about it now is hard because loneliness is a hard one to admit. Self-love is great but a lot of the time it still feels like everything is designed to be shared with another person, it's pervasive. All I can do is try to speak my fantasy into existence.”
Cariss Auburn will also be headlining at Notting Hill Arts Club on the 18th of March 2022.
