Bawo Shuts Down Manchester At The Iconic YES Venue

West London’s Bawo kicked off the year 2023 with a run of live performances, the most recent one being in Manchester at the iconic YES, Pink room as part of his debut UK headline The Conference tour.

Bawo speaks to the youth and can be best described as a storyteller that has the ability to be about his own personal experiences and deliver them in a way that everyone can relate to. He explores love, growing up, hard times and experiencing his newfound success.

And only at the beginning stages of his career Bawo has amassed a loyal core fan group that was proven by the number of people that turned out in the cold.

The show was a throwback to the pure rave culture as the room was merged in purple and blue lights and you could hear the distorted bass vibrate from wall to wall. Bawo performed a range of songs that had elements of melancholic UKG and realism Rap.

The rising star showcases his ability with a smoothness, as he delivered line after line with a nonchalant charismatic air. Stylishly dressed in full black God’s Of Fear essential men’s wear he stands on stage with casualness as the music plays.

Clean smooth and naturally charismatic the rapper performed songs from his new EP ‘legitimate cause’. The project was made up of 7 tracks early this year and acts as a re-introduction to Bawo as he enjoys his newfound attention.

Reek0 performed as the supporting artist that warmed up the crowd providing enthusiasm and energy. He was also brought back on stage by Bowo to perform their track ‘Same Team’.

The crowd vibes on the more melodic ‘Not Just Yet’ as Bawo reminisces on an old relationship blurring past and present as he attempts to move on. The West Londoner also performs ‘Starts with a text’.

He also flows over the 808 beat of ‘Stay Close’. A crowd favourite as fans sings back the chorus. Bawo adopts a garage-influenced delivery urging his love interest to stay as he navigates his hectic lifestyle.

Performing the fast and energetic ‘Turn and face’ to amp up the crowd even more before he brings it back down on Craig David’s ‘7 days’ inspired ‘Skate’.

Still scheduled to perform a Birmingham show, Bawo has already proved through the Conference Tour that he’s not only just a vivid storyteller but a natural live performer.
