A New Era of Trend Discovery: Google Invites You Into The World’s Longest Coffee Bar with Clara Amfo

In an age overflowing with new trends and dying aesthetics, more and more Brits find themselves falling behind in a race they never even knew had started. For those who feel they’re playing catch-up, AI Mode in Google offers a way to stay in step with the trends - and maybe even ahead.

From the revival of bell-bottoms to the resurgence of soft grunge, the constant influx of trends has made it difficult to know what to wear, who to listen to, or where to buy from. In 2025, more than 70% of Brits believe life is more complicated than a decade ago, with over 67% blaming the speed of new trends as the main culprit.

As Google unveils the world’s longest coffee bar, aptly named the Search Bar, the global tech company teams up with British radio broadcaster and TV presenter Clara Amfo. Together, they explore how AI Mode in Google can act as a creative tool, helping us enhance the instincts and imagination we already have, rather than simply replacing them.

When we asked Clara about how AI’s data-driven creativity has expanded what’s possible in fashion, music, and culture, she replied, “I don’t think it’s a Philip K. Dick situation, whereby it’s man versus machine. I think it’s woman versus the machine or they versus the machine… whoever versus the machine. I think it’s about using the tools to enhance what you already know - or what you may know nothing about - but without replacing the human experience.”

Reflecting this spirit of openness and curiosity, Google invited the knowledge-hungry to its Covent Garden pop-up - a three-day experience running from the 7th to the 9th of November. There, curiosity could quite literally be traded for coffee, proving that every query carries currency.

For those with questions, they might feel too intimidated or overwhelmed to broach, especially amid a flood of new fashion movements and music fads, AI Mode in Google encourages us to dive deeper into more complex musings.

For some, their relationship with technology mirrors the kind you’d have with a mate - someone you can ask intricate questions and still show up as your authentic self. In doing so, we pave the way for more personalised answers - powering everything from customized style guides and seasonal soundtracks to vision boards and fashion trend forecasts.

Clara, whose TV and radio career began long before the AI era, lets us in on the ways she leans on Google’s AI feature today, asking questions like, “Where can I eat? Where are the galleries? Where are the music venues?” She also states, “When it comes to my creative projects, it’s just a good way to create mood boards.”

Whether it’s sparking inspiration or stirring nostalgia, the possibilities of AI feel endless. Asked which fashion aesthetic she’d most like AI to bring back, the pop-culture commentator told us, “I’m really trying to think about this now. I think the door knocker earrings!”

When human curiosity unites with artificial intelligence, we’re able to cut through the noise clouding creative spheres. If, like Clara Amfo, you’re curious by nature and intrigued by trends, the real creative challenge is learning to use AI to fuel instinct, not replace it. Not just to spot emerging looks, but to understand the stories, influences, and moods driving them.
