A$AP Rocky Debuts Collection For Ray-Ban as Their First Creative Director

The fashion and music mogul A$AP Rocky announced earlier this year that he would become the first Creative Director of Ray-Ban, not too much of a shock moment considering his longstanding wear of the brand. The artist awarded the ‘Cultural Innovator’ Award at The Fashion Awards in 2024 has released three styles of shades in the ‘Blacked Out’ collection.

As expected, this collection is elevated, bold and significantly stands out as the next level of Ray-Bans, where contemporary black frames now mean more than the original brand name, but a product that fans can identify with. A$AP Rocky’s cultural influence has developed from music to fashion shows to his creative agency ‘AWGE’, his whiskey brand ‘Mercer & Prince’ and now creative direction.

Models from the collection include ‘Mega Clubmaster’, ‘Mega Wayfarer’ and ‘Mega Balorama’. Each of them has a unique shape and style, including the classic rectangle black frame, an angled sportstyle pair and of course, the aviator clubmaster style. In a recent interview with Vogue for his cover story, A$AP Rocky talks about his new look as a father and what having children means for his style. The Ray-Ban models feel like a variety of characterisations of the artist’s life, from everyday wear to on-stage appearance to sport style.

A$AP Rocky teased old and new pairs of Ray-Bans back in June for his Paris Fashion Week American Sabotage show, and in his ‘Highjack’ music video in August, he wears the 'Mega Wayfarer' style.

The first collection from the rapper has a gold AWGE “tattoo” engraved on the temple tips of the frames, black out lenses and can be bought for £230 per pair. We can already see the murals all over London’s streets, anticipating the icon’s moves on the brand’s campaigns, activations and new imagery. Let’s be honest, if A$AP Rocky is wearing it or even better, behind the design, we want it and we will be watching his next moves through the black tinted glasses.
