YAM Carnival: London's Big New Summer Party Adds Two More Huge Names

Bringing an unrivalled celebration of Black culture from around the world, Yam Carnival is adding more huge names to an already unparalleled line up today. NSG and Koffee join the party for Yam Carnival’s long-awaited debut edition, set to take over London’s Clapham Common on Saturday 28th August.

Emerging new events like YAM Carnival are super important to the UK music scene at present as they aim to celebrate Black music and culture on a big scale in London. With Notting Hill Carnival unfortunately announcing that they’re not going ahead on the same Bank Holiday weekend, I think us Londoners have found ourselves a brand new alternative event to attend that elevates and amplifies Black and brown voices.

Having already revealed a massive array of some of the hottest and most iconic names earlier this week - including Afrobeats pioneer Davido, US favourite’s Kehlani and Ari Lennox, Nigerian superstar Yemi Alade, UK rap breakthrough Pa Salieu and rising Afroswing star Darkoo to name a few - today’s additions bring even more heat to London’s hottest new show. One to hype up the hometown crowd, East London rap collective NSG have birthed some of the biggest smash hits in recent years and stand as one of the most in-demand live acts of a generation. Representing Ghana and Nigeria via Hackney, the 6-strong group meld musical cultures into their afro sounds and dancehall beats, promising a multitude of explosive moments with their perfect summer soundtrack.

With no summer party complete without a healthy dose of reggae rhythms, Jamacian singer, songwriter Koffee is on hand to deliver the vibes. A true trailblazer injecting positive change in the world, inspiring a young audience and firmly shaping the future of reggae, Koffee will bring sun-filled good vibrations to the bank holiday weekend.

Across three stages, the biggest sounds in Afrobeats, hip-hop, dance, Afro-swing and R&B will come together for a defining cultural moment in the heart of London on the August bank holiday weekend. Crossing genres, audiences and styles, these new names sit side by side with Nao, Princess Nokia, Ms Banks, IAMDDB, Midas The Jagaban, Omah Lay, Rema, Fally Ipupa, King Promise, Femi Kuti, Fatoumata Diawara, Patoranking, Stonebwoy, Honey Dijon and more. A welcome addition to the festival landscape in 2021, Yam Carnival is set to shake up London in a big way, bringing together so many sounds and styles from all across the African continent, the Caribbean, America, Canada and the UK, this show is a true melting pot of Black culture.

Alongside a truly impressive lineup, Yam Carnival will bring together a mouthwatering array of food & drink from around the world - sampling in those special dishes that we’ve all come to know and love. From top African-influenced food trucks and chefs from around London, expect contemporary bites and traditional home comforts all setting up shop at Yam Carnival this August!
