Wireless 2023 Headliners Confirmed

Playboi Carti, Travis Scott and D-Block Europe will headline at this year’s Wireless Festival with rapper 50 Cent appearing as a special guest. Other artists slated to perform include Lil Uzi Vert, Lancey Foux, Joey Bada$$ and Lil Durk.

The three-day music festival will take place between Friday the 7th of July and Sunday the 9th of July and will be hosted by the BBC Radio 1Xtra presenters DJ Target, Kenny Allstar, Tiffany Calver, Nadia Jae, Seani B and Remi Burgz.

The Return To A Three-Day Event

The 2023 festival will once again return to Finsbury Park in north London. Last year the festival was held at three venues: in Crystal Palace between the 1st and the 3rd of July and in both Finsbury Park in London and the NEC in Birmingham between the 8th and the 10th of July. Tickets are on sale now with the option to attend on individual or multiple days. However, individual day tickets for Saturday have already been snapped up.

In 2022, US rappers Cardi B and Nicki Minaj headlined as part of the Finsbury Park line-up. This year, it will be the second Wireless festival in a row for London-born rapper Lancey Foux. Foux released his sixth studio album, the highly anticipated Life in Hell, in October 2022.

From Rock and Pop to Urban Music

Wireless originally began life as a rock and pop festival with the inaugural festival in 2005 featuring Kasabian, Supergrass and Pete Doherty. Previously, the Wireless Festival tried to cater for a range of musical tastes with rock, pop and electronic groups, but as a transition towards single genre rock and pop festivals has taken hold, Wireless ultimately decided on a single musical direction. This trend reflects a move towards the use of single genres in the wider entertainment industry. Apple Music provides tailor-made music radio stations based on preferences within a single music genre, and the iGaming industry offers a variety of music-themed slot games focussing on specific genres. A casino online can, for example, offers music fans slot titles such as Gods of Rock, Banana Rock and Mild Rockers, alongside Disco Bar 7s and Disco Double. The trend is towards specialist music content from one genre as opposed to trying to suit all music tastes.

Now the festival is firmly established as the ultimate UK rap and urban music festival. Past headliners read like a who’s who of the rap scene with Jay-Z, Kanye West, Drake and Rihanna representing the US, and Skepta, Stormzy and Dave showcasing the best of the UK rap scene.

Wireless Festival 2023 also gives visitors the chance to experience a music festival as a VIP with tickets offering access to the Wireless VIP Village and DJs, while the hospitality ticket includes, among other perks, access to the hospitality tent and garden, chillout area and a TV screen to watch a live feed of the main stage.

For those unable to attend, fans will be able to follow Wireless 2023 live via BBC Sounds, BBC iPlayer and BBC Radio 1Xtra social media in its role as the official broadcast partner of the festival.

Fans should stand by as more artists are set to be announced. The doors will open at 13:30 on Friday the 8th of July with a 22:30 curfew. On Saturday and Sunday, the doors will open at 11:00 with curfews of 22:30 and 21:30 respectively.

The festival will give fans the chance to experience the best the UK and the US has to offer in terms of rap, hip hop and urban music.
