The Closing Credits Club: One Frame At a Time

According to the University Press of Mississipi, Academy Award-winning filmmaker, Steven Spielberg, once said that "Every time I go to a movie, it's magic, no matter what the movie's about". The experience of watching a movie can be so brilliant and immersive, that the experience can be otherwordly. The Closing Credits Club brings people together to share that magic.

Films are known to bring people together, inspire conversations, and create shared experiences. The Closing Credits Club (CCC) is a film community built around a love for film, and an appreciation of sharing that love with eachother. With over 400 members from across the globe, CCC provides a safe space for film enthusiasts to enjoy experiencing cinema together, no matter where they are or how they are watching. More Than just Watching Movies CCC is a film community on Discord, where members join frequent watchparties via a shared screen, a singular source allowing everyone to watch a synced movie and have amazing conversations via discussion channels. To keep things fun and light, members have a leaderboard that allows them to earn roles and customized display names, until ultimately reaching the title of 'Cinephile', defined as a person who is very interested in and enthusiastic about cinema as an art form, and knows a lot about films. CCC has already seen members attend film festivals, participate in giveaways and create connections that have developed into real-world meetings, demonstrating how a shared love of film can extend beyond Discord. Creating New Ways to Experience Film Currently, the community has seized the opportunity to appreciate the art of film, taking influence from the Academy Awards (known as the Oscars) and the Criterion Collection, creating what is known on Letterboxd as the Oscars Best Picture (CCC’s Version) Winners throughout the years, as well as the club's very own version of the Closing Credits Collection. From this to Directors Commentaries, scheduled movie suggestions or other upcoming initiatives, CCC continues to develop ways for members to discover films, share perspectives, and participate in the community, reflecting the club's commitment to bringing people together out of love for the medium. Supporting Film Enthusiasts Beyond watching and discussing movies, CCC supports film enthusiasts as they explore opportunities, develop their portfolios, and connect with external brands and platforms. Through partnerships allowing members to receive discounted tickets to London Film Festival, collaborations with publications and a new embrace of platforms such as Substack for individual expression, the club aims to help members with their creative or professional goals while remaining a community built around a shared passion for film. A Community That Continues to Grow Over the course of 6 months since the club's creation, it's gained over 400 members, restructured it's process and realized that a club can be more than a bunch of individuals. The goal for the commnuity is to maintain it's passion for films and enjoy experiences through easily accessible watchparties, while also utilize it's potential as a film club to collaborate, communicate and connect through filmmakers & industry partners.
