Sézane Is Entering Its Most Intentional Era Yet

This autumn, Parisian label Sézane is entering a new chapter. Founded by Morgane Sézalory in 2013, the brand is evolving through a more refined visual identity, more assured silhouettes and a renewed creative direction.

Rather than moving away from what made Sézane distinctive, the shift feels like a more mature expression of the brand's existing identity — rooted in quality, creativity, accessibility and a longstanding love of vintage.

Built by instinct

Sézane began with Sézalory’s vintage venture, Les Composantes, built around her instinct for finding hidden beauty and timeless design. In 2013, that same approach evolved into Sézane, which became the first French fashion brand born entirely online.

Now, at 41, Sézalory remains at the helm as CEO, bringing a more intentional creative vision to the brand.

“I am no longer the person I was twenty years ago. My perspective has sharpened, my desires have become clearer,” she explains, describing a desire to shape the brand she has always dreamed of.

That evolution will be reflected throughout the autumn collection. Materials take on greater importance, while silhouettes become more grounded and considered. The result is less a reinvention than a refinement of the Sézane aesthetic.

Beyond the wardrobe

The next stage of Sézane's evolution will extend beyond clothing, with the opening of 117 rue du Bac in Paris's 7th arrondissement.

More than a traditional retail space, the new address is designed as a broader cultural destination, bringing together the new collection with a bookshop created in collaboration with Librairie Galignani and a café with Ten Belles.

The space will also host an exhibition dedicated to Ghanaian photographer James Barnor, whose relationship with Sézane stretches back more than a decade. The exhibition continues the brand's longstanding relationship with photography, art and image-making.

It is this combination of fashion, art, books and hospitality that perhaps best represents Sézane's new direction. The brand is creating a physical space not simply to shop, but to discover and spend time in.

From an online-first French fashion label to a wider creative universe, Sézane's latest chapter feels less like a departure and more like a natural progression — one built around a clearer vision of what the brand wants to become. Sézane's story is still being written, but this time, it seems to know exactly where it is going.
