STELLA McCARTNEY X YOSHITOMONARA: A THIRD COLLABORATION

Stella McCartney reunites with Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara for their third limited-edition collaboration, bringing together fashion, art and a shared commitment to individuality and the natural world.

Born in Aomori, Japan, in 1959, Nara is known for his instantly recognisable portraits of wide-eyed, childlike figures and animals. Their seemingly playful appearance often carries a more complex emotional charge, balancing innocence with defiance, vulnerability and rebellion. Shaped by memories of childhood, folklore and a lifelong relationship with music, particularly rock and punk, Nara’s visual language has always moved between tenderness and resistance. His work invites viewers to look beyond its charming surface and consider the feelings and contradictions beneath it.

That tension informs the collection’s “rock’n’roll forest” concept, where Nara’s distinctive characters appear across ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes and accessories. Made using 100% responsible materials, the pieces include organic cotton jersey, responsibly sourced wool knitwear, handcrafted vegan bags and graphic trainers. Craftsmanship takes centre stage through a series of extremely limited, atelier-made pieces, including handcrocheted framed artworks, knitted scarves and jumpers. Some require more than 60 hours of work, bringing texture and a sense of individuality to each piece.

Together, the artists translate a shared spirit of creative freedom into wearable pieces, taking art beyond the gallery and into everyday expression. Fronted by Japanese actor Ryo Ryusei and model Mika Schnider, the campaign launches ahead of the collection’s global release on 11 November 2026 at stellamccartney.com, selected Stella McCartney boutiques and retailers worldwide.
