Samm Henshaw realises what, and who, is worth holding onto on his latest single ‘Float’

South London singer-songwriter Samm Henshaw shares his latest offering, ‘Float’, a story of misplaced love.

Living side by side with the past, Samm casts himself as a haunting, lonely figure who can’t seem to quite move on from an ex.

Rather, he pleads and fights, wanting to find a way back, “Don’t let me float, darlin’/ The world looks so much better with you”, he soulfully croons in a heartbreaking manner over a gentle melody that lulls you in peacefulness, manifested by horns, quiet bass, and soft drums.

‘Float’ is the fourth track off of his sophomore album, It Could Be Worse, which, since Friday, has been released on vinyl-only. A more organic and natural approach is in resistance to the modernity of the music industry, which often embraces a consumerist nature.

The album was inspired by Samm’s first major heartbreak, and is, according to the artist in a promo video, his “most vulnerable album” as he detailed the non-linear process of navigating a series of unexpected setbacks.

He has also announced a world tour, which will see him play in 35 Cities in the US, Asia, and Europe. It starts in January and ends with a homecoming show in London on March 24.
