‘Aitch: Don’t Be Afraid’ truly is a documentary unlike anything else I have ever watched. It is rare to find something which combines heartfelt moments, tears and humour so seamlessly, and Aitch achieves exactly that. From the very beginning, we are immersed into the life that Aitch and his sister, Gracie live. At the premiere hosted at the Curzon cinema in Mayfair, audience sat laughing and cheering when we really discover the humanity behind this global star. Seeing all of the love and the passion in the room from the very beginning proved how much this project and excursion meant for family, friends and the Down’s Syndrome Association, to which the money for their trek went. Aitch, alongside others, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. Prior to watching, I knew the scale of the mountain but I could never have imagined the reality that comes alongside it. Sickness, lack of oxygen, hunger, restlessness. It truly was a beautiful experience, and I could not recommend enough taking a few hours out of your day to watch it. It has put so much in perspective for me, how careless I have been with complaining and calling myself tired, and I guarantee everyone else in the room felt the same way. Bringing in more than £160,000 for his climb, the change this journey has made for so many people is poignant.
