Pa Salieu Returns To His Throne With New Single "Glidin'" featuring slowthai

The defiant Pa Salieu has announced his return with new single and video for “Glidin’” featuring slowthai.

What a way to kick off the sunny weather with a banger from two of the UK's most electrifying artists. The pair may have grown up in small towns – one in the Hillfields suburb of Coventry, the other in the provincial town of Northampton – but they certainly know how to land with impact.

The track, produced by LiTek and Whyjay, emphasises their contrasts: The distinct rhythms of Pa’s staccato tempo and the bouncy off-kilter flow of slowthai, laid on top of springy kick drums and rubbery synths. The energy on this track is infectious, this, combined with Pa and slowthai’s raw vibrancy sees the single come together in perfect disharmony.

Directed by KC Locke, the colourful visuals present a mesmerisingly chaotic yet faultless accompaniment to the track. The pair are seen bound in straightjackets bouncing off the walls, from this the video then cuts between scenes of the two wreaking havoc with a baseball bat, to a shot of them cheersing graciously with a cup of tea (nb. the cup is filled with Henny, not tea).

After a stint in hospital in 2019 following a drive-by shooting, Pa picked himself up and pursued his future with force, there was no holding him back. In January of 2020, Pa Salieu released the hit “Frontline” with SL and a year later he is still keeping his audience on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting the next bit of news from the 23-year-old.

According to a press release we can expect to see much more from Pa this summer. This is the first release from the British-Gambian rapper since his triumph on the BBC Sounds of 2021 and Pa’s been working arduously since – from appearances on Jools Holland and Jimmy Fallon to studio sessions with A$AP Rocky and FKA Twigs – we can’t wait to see what else is to come.
