NorthSideBenji Releases New Album 'Misery Loves Company'

ree

The day Misery Loves Company hit streaming platforms, Canadian rapper NorthSideBenji had released his third studio album, but also provided a much-needed perspective on the harsh realities of life.

The release came after ‘Chasing A High’ was unveiled the previous day, alongside its visuals, which acted as another peek into the anticipated album. Directed by KR Productions, the music video sports a vintage screen display, with clips of NorthSideBenji’s impressive garage and jewellery; however, it supports the overarching theme in the project. Money doesn't solve all problems.

The 17-track project was recorded across metropolitan cities. Dubai, London, Los Angeles, and Vancouver—not only hosted, but also impacted the body of work inspired by real moments. Contributions were added from a lot of producers; however, Toronto’s Money Musik and Vancouver’s Elix2 handled the bulk of the production.

Highlighting introspection and reflection on the part of NorthSideBenji, the album is themed on struggle, self-discovery, financial priority, and the draining effects of negative energy. Furthermore, Misery Loves Company maintains Benji’s consistency in bridging Canadian rap culture and British rap culture.

It deviates from the norm. The first track on the album shares a title with the album and back-to-back, the Brampton native has guest appearances from Nafe Smallz, NoCap, and Nav alongside Nav’s right-hand man and producer Money Musik, from the fifth track through the seventh track. Following a song-long break, Track 8, ‘Lonely’, is kicked off by Canadian star, Tory Lanez.

Holding his mother’s English roots in high esteem, the Canadian artist hosted an exclusive album launch party in London, a day prior to the release of Misery Loves Company.

He also made appearances at the London Fashion Week, where he took a coveted front-row seat alongside some influential British personalities.

Next month, Benji will hit the road with his Canadian tour. Opening on the 8th of October with a headline show in London, Ontario, the tour will spread across seven other locations in his home country before October wraps up.

With this brilliant release, NorthSideBenji upholds his position as one of the most talented out of Canada and further underscores his international reach.
