Metallic Inc. Announce This Year's Metallic Fund Supporting Black British Creatives

The Metallic Fund is a not-for-profit initiative established in 2020, by London-based global culture studio Metallic Inc, to created to address racial inequality in the creative industries. It awards and enables emerging Black talent to progress in their careers by providing funding, mentorship, and support networks. Over the past three years, the Fund has issued over £150k to Black/POC creatives and paired them with industry leaders.

The Fund operates with five values: equality, creativity, education, collaboration, and excellence, and aims to create generational wealth with the goal of empowering Black talent in the creative arts and addressing inequalities in the industry. Led by Metallic Inc Founders Grace LaDoja MBE and Alex Sossah, the fund has disbursed over £150k in direct support to emerging UK creatives, including No Signal Radio, Vivendii, Louis Culture, and Feben. Community is a central aspect of The Metallic Fund, and the program extends beyond financial support to encompass education and mentorship. In its third year, the fund has proudly hosted mentors from renowned figures in the cultural sphere, including Carlos Nazario, Martine Rose, Virgil Abloh, Dexter Navy, L52 PR, Caroline Simounescu Marin and many more.

This year's Metallic Fund grants will be distributed among several tiers, including one Platinum grant of £20k, two Gold grants of £10k, three Silver grants of £5k, and six Bronze grants of £2,500. To be eligible, applicants must be 18-34 year old Black creatives living in the UK, possess a strong creative vision, and have a solid plan. The fund particularly encourages applicants from the LGBTQ+ community to apply.

Alex Sossah commented on the importance of the fund by saying, “we wanted to create a Fund that looks like us. It was vital to have a program that allows people to identify with us. The Fund has always been about bringing people together, collaborating and supporting the next generation of Black creative talent”.
