Maverick Sabre Joins Drum & Bass Artist Hedex On New Single ‘I Knew That This Was Love’

Soul singer-songwriter Maverick Sabre joins UK drum & bass artist Hedex on new single ‘I Knew That This Was Love’ as he experiences love at first sight.

Sabre sings with utter certainty on ‘I Knew That This Was Love’ as, despite the simplistic lyrics, his voice holds all the power as it rolls with his distinct rawness. Beguiling, he’s full of want and wonderment.

Despite this, Sabre’s, voice sparks something more. He laments, “could of saved so much pain, glad that I found you in the end” over the beautifully played strings that slowly rise to the top of the surface, before energetic skittering percussion disrupts the peace, accompanied by a deep, resonant bassline to depart from the producer’s typical sound.

The accompanying video leans into the nostalgic and timeless feel of Sabre, shot in a hazy lens, he perfectly fits the part of an old school singer yearning as he desperately clutches the microphone on the stage. Tinted sunglasses obscuring the emotion behind the eyes.

Speaking on the single, Hedex said: “’I Knew That This Was Love’ explains an integral moment in my life. A story shaped on meeting someone where it was truly love at first sight.

"Mavs vocals are deep, emotional and full of heart—every word. The progression across the verses really tell a story. I picked the sample and we cut it together over a loop I had already made prior, it was truly an effortless session. So proud of this track!”

This followed ‘Same Cycle’, a dance anthem featuring UK rapper ArrDee and producer Digital Farm Animals, which like ‘I Knew That This Was Love’ will feature on Hedex’s upcoming debut studio album MHITR.

Jack Hedges, or better known as Hedex has already sold out both the OVO Arena Wembley and LA’s Palladium in his relatively short career so far. His debut album will be released on October 10th via his own label.
