Marie Dahlstrom's Up In The 'Clouds' With Delleile Ankara In New Single

Proving that she’s one of R&B’s most essential voices Marie Dahlstorm returns with her new single ‘Clouds’ featuring Mic Lowry’s Delleile Ankrah. In her storytelling, the London-based artist oozes a clear understanding of her sense of self.

Released via Marie’s very own imprint JHF, the single builds on the critically acclaimed success that the Danish songbird enjoyed from her debut album Like Sand and in her familiar space of storytelling the London-based artist oozes a clear understanding of her sense of self that she has found from the time between now and Like Sand.

Taking a closer look at herself, Marie subtly sits in the jazz off-beat pockets of the instrumentation kept company by the electric guitar’s undercurrent, groovy base and eurythmic percussion.

This creates the perfect space for the pair to stand steady as they confront life's problems. The sensational vocalists play off of each other, following the lines that each has left unfinished in a smoothly executed routine that convey a comforting warmth.

Production-wise, the track taps into the typical tropes of Jazz and blues music it’s about overcoming adversity, as well as regaining something deep inside that you once thought lost. The track also blurs the lines between R&B, Soul and the other genres mentioned previously.

Marie: "Yes, it’s about feeling lost, but taking 5 mins to get back on your feet and overcome whatever is in front of you. To face the fear or obstacle. It’s about moving forward. Working with Delleile on this, was so natural and honest. It was an evening during the last part of the pandemic, and everything just came together so smooth and organically, with Dan Diggas on the production. We were all in the same room just catching that moment of creativity, and a few hours later, Clouds was basically what you hear on the record."

Last year Marie also dropped Safe Space, but her first release of 2022 signals a shift in a more internal look for the rest of this year and the following year.

Maire is also scheduled to perform at her very own headline show at Lafayette in London next year on April 6th.
