Rising UK singer-songwriter and Ivor Novello nominee LULU. promises us better days as she releases the deeply moving single ‘Not There Yet’ as her first release since her debut EP Dear, Disoriented Soul.

Still holding on despite everything, LULU. has learnt to double down and lean into the challenges rather than fold when confronted with doubt when chasing a dream.

We meet her at a place of vulnerability, the tiredness and transparency as she sings “Lately I’ve been falling over the edge, lately I have been a wreck, I’m overwhelmed. I’m holding on, but nothing I can grip” is a confession, which also frees her.

Consisting of soft African percussion and warm rhythmic guitar patterns woven together, LULU’s sweet vocals sit just above the instrumentation, meandering over it with an unhurried and gentle pace. Her voice cuts through, soulful, and overflowing with assured hope as she looks beyond the immediate “storm” and towards the “moon.”

“‘Not There Yet’ captures the tension between longing and endurance, LULU. says.

"As the difficult periods in our lives chip away at our faith you start to question whether the dream is still worth chasing. It’s in these moments we learn to pause, take it all in, and appreciate that while we haven’t yet arrived at our desired destination, we’re still moving forward.

“This track is a reflection on staying the course and finding meaning in life’s interludes - a moment to reconnect with God and yourself before you step into everything you’ve been working for. So Learn to be patient with yourself, as life inevitably tests and reveals the strength of your character.”

That beauty and stillness is reflected in the accompanying music video, directed by Aisyah Octavia, which heavily explores what British summertime both looks and feel like through a soft-tinted scope.

It showcases the peacefulness and quiet side of London as we witness snapshots of green parks, empty roads and gentle blue rivers, the flowers in bloom.

LULU. Has also recently performed at SXSW London, supporting TEMS, who is one of the 21-year-old British & Nigerian’s main musical influences.
