Lost in the Magic: GORDO’s TARAKA Lights Up Pacha Ibiza

There’s a reason Guatemalan DJ and producer GORDO has become such a major presence across Ibiza and beyond. His TARAKA concept continues to grow into a global force, and just days before his Pacha takeover, he brought out Drake during his sold-out TARAKA show at Toronto’s Port Lands on September 6. It’s another reminder of the scale GORDO is now operating at, seamlessly moving between electronic music and global pop culture while keeping the dancefloor firmly at the centre.

Stepping inside Pacha is an experience in itself. The legendary Ibiza institution feels almost dreamlike at night, with its iconic red interiors, cascading lights, glittering disco balls and unmistakable cherry emblem creating an atmosphere that feels both glamorous and wonderfully surreal. Its decades of history seem to pulse through the walls, making it easy to understand why walking through those doors still feels like stepping into another world. Last Tuesday, that world belonged to TARAKA. With sets from Alex Wann, ARODES, Manda Moor and Gala, the night moved effortlessly between house, Afro house, melodic moments and nostalgic dancefloor classics.

The response to GORDO’s set was felt instantly. As he moved between heavier rhythms and euphoric releases, the DJ and producer understood exactly how to build a room, allowing the energy of the dancefloor to dictate where the set went next. Pacha proved the perfect playground: intimate enough to lose yourself in the crowd, yet grand enough to make every moment feel monumental.

Rampa’s ‘Les Gout’ locked the room into its hypnotic groove, while Keinemusik’s ‘Chuala’ brought that unmistakable late-night Ibiza feeling.

‘Sights’ by London Grammar, reworked into a house setting, offered a more emotive moment before Daft Punk’s One More Time sent the room into instant euphoria. The opening notes were enough to have everyone singing and dancing, turning Pacha into one enormous shared memory. Prospa’s ‘Free Your Mind’ followed with equal impact, the undeniable summer anthem prompting hands in the air and the entire dancefloor giving itself over to the moment. As the track echoed through one of Ibiza’s most magical rooms, it became clear that Tuesday had never felt so good.

TARAKA is carving out its own identity within Pacha’s legendary history, balancing contemporary club sounds with the classics that make a crowd erupt.
