Lex Amor Speaks for the Masses in Poetic New Single “Rocks”

Following a collaboration with Kojey Radical on War Outside and performing at her first headline show at Omeara in London, enigmatic North London rapper Lex Amor has made her musical return with introspective new single Rocks.

Created off the back of her 2020 critically-acclaimed debut album Government Tropicana, Rocks is another saga of one of Lex’s most poignant subject matters; the constraining dichotomy between big dreams and real working-class life.

Lex’s signature monotonous, half-sung half-rapped delivery perfectly complements Mike Keyz’s somber, mellow beat, which in turn matches the eerily nostalgic aesthetics of the accompanying music video.

Directed by previous collaborator Tyrus Hill, the Rocks visuals features Lex Amor’s natural black & white domain as she and a diverse range of people use the church as a means to escape the mundanities of life and their own mental anguish.

Extremely relateable to those of us trying to find a way to fulfil our great ambitions while being stuck in a system constantly pushing us back, Rocks is a single separated from Lex’s upcoming 2022 project, but fitting to her music’s overarching themes nonetheless.
