Krug x Max Richter: When Every Note Counts

Maison Krug unveils Every Note Counts, a unique collaboration between Cellar Master Julie Cavil and acclaimed composer Max Richter. This creative encounter bridges Champagne and music, built on a shared belief: that every detail, every note, matters.

Founded in Reims in 1843, Krug has always embraced individuality and precision in winemaking. In 2008, nature gifted Champagne with an exceptional harvest: a vintage so rich in potential that it inspired Cavil to craft not one, but three unique expressions. Each cuvée is a study in nuance, shaped by time, patience, and an intimate understanding of the year’s character.

Inspired by the exceptional 2008 harvest, Cavil crafted three distinct cuvées, each a testament to Krug’s precision and artistry. Richter, moved by the emotional depth of these champagnes, responded with three original compositions that mirror their character.

Together, these works form Krug from Soloist to Orchestra in 2008 (Act 2):

  • Krug Clos d’Ambonnay 2008 becomes Clarity, a solo reflecting singular purity.

  • Krug 2008 is Ensemble, a chamber piece echoing harmony.

  • Krug Grande Cuvée 164ème Édition becomes Sinfonia, a symphony of generosity drawn from 127 wines.

From vineyard to studio, Every Note Counts is a sensory journey and a tribute to craftsmanship at its most refined.
