“If I cried on your shoulder, would you still say it’s over?”, sings Konyikeh, part sarcastic, part honest, as her voice darkens the sombre soundscape with her distinct melancholic tone on her latest soulful offering.

It’s a beautifully rich and intoxicating sound, which the songstress has honed over the past few years, as Konyikeh airs out her deepest fears on ‘Vulnerability’, a stunning expression of aching tenderness to oneself.

Setting out to unburden what has been weighing her as we witness the beginnings of a breakup, she confesses that transparency and vulnerability are not something which comes naturally to her; however, she commits to an act to recaptures her strength.

There is strength in wanting and in expression. Proven by the artful way that Konyikeh is able to convey deep emotion, as she sashays her hurt, pain, anger, and heartache in an uncomfortable honesty, as she sings, “I know you think I'm weak, and that I’m a fool. I played the lover’s game that was taught to me by you.”

Unusually upbeat, pushed by the sound of consistent synth played underneath, conveying a sense of danger as well as a sampled gospel chorus, which is looped throughout with a haunted, echoing effect.

The accompanying visual, is creatively shot as it places Konyikeh sitting in a bustling café in London, and then the camera playfully pans as chaos begins to emerge as an impromptu jam session as customers, waiters, and passersby turn into musicians and dancers in an act of choreographed spontaneity.

"I’m quite a guarded person and that trait has permeated through all aspects of my life. I always found solace in my music being the place where I can be honest and open, but I was struggling with that a lot in 2024", Konyikeh said speaking about her new musical direction.

"At the beginning of this year I went into the studio and wondered ‘What’s the worst that could happen if I was honest about how I’m feeling?’

"Coming off tour supporting Jalen N’Gonda tour earlier this year helped, as it affirmed to me how much I love playing live. So this song was written and produced with that in mind as well."

Maintaining her consistency, ‘Vulnerability’ follows her second EP, Problem With Authority, released in 2024, and also her debut Litany, which was dropped a year before.

You can see Konyikeh at her headline show at The Forge, London, on Thursday 13th November 2025.
